Summary

Welcome to the Motorverse.
Yesterday, holoride announced the launch of its in-vehicle VR entertainment system in Germany. Those with select Audi vehicles can purchase the company’s Pioneers’ Pack, which includes everything you need to transform your car into an “always-in-motion virtual space” where you can play games, browse the web, and more.
Holoride sets itself apart from competing VR systems thanks to its unique use of real-time vehicle data, including steering, braking, and acceleration. The system features a growing lineup of interactive and passive apps that react to the user as well as the movement of the vehicle. Not only does this serve to further immerse you in the experience, but it also promises to mitigate motion sickness.
“Despite amazing advances in automotive technology over the last few decades, passenger experience and in-car entertainment has remained largely the same,” said Nils Wollny, CEO and co-founder at holoride in an official release. “With the introduction of holoride, we are not only elevating that stale experience; we are redefining how you spend your time on the go. I couldn’t be more excited for riders to finally enjoy the thrills of the Motorverse for themselves.”
Each Pioneers’ Pack includes the following:
  • HTC VIVE Flow: Lightweight VR glasses powered by an Android smartphone.
  • 8BitDo Pro 2 Gamepad: A classic gamepad that allows you to interact with virtual content.
  • Safety strap: Nifty straps that connect to your seatbelt to provide an additional layer of security during especially-bumpy rides.
  • One-year subscription to the holoride platform (EUR 19.99 per month after the first year).
Holoride will feature a single game at launch: Cloudbreakers: Leaving Haven. Developed by Schell Games, the same team behind the I Expect You To Die series and Among Us VR, this third-person action-shooter has you taking on the role of a drone pilot and battling waves of artificial intelligence (AI) sentries throughout the skies while gathering valuable scraps.
In addition to gaming, holoride also features a dedicated web browser that allows you to mirror your smartphone screen and enjoy your favorite content on a massive 180-inch virtual monitor. Moving forward, the company plans on introducing new games and apps to its catalog, including various edutainment content.
“By integrating holoride in our models, we’re redefining in-car entertainment,” added Giorgio Delucchi, head of digital experience/business at Audi. “Through combining real-time vehicle data and virtual content, we’re creating an entirely new customer experience. A crucial cornerstone of the vehicle’s digitalization is developing the interior into a third living space. In this very personal space, living and working coalesce. Holoride is another proof point in our roadmap.”
Holoride’s Pioneers’ Pack is available for EUR 699 in Germany. As mentioned previously, the system is compatible with select Audi vehicles at the moment, including the Audi A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, Q5, Q7, Q8, Audi e-tron, Audi e-tron Sportback, and Audi e-tron GT. The system will be available in additional markets soon, beginning with the United States in early 2023 with Europe and Asia to follow.
