Summary

Monkey around with friends in NYC, aboard the ISS, and across Minecraft-themed worlds.
Everyone’s favorite VR ape-simulator Gorilla Tag this week added dozens of new environments courtesy of the Monke Map Loader.
Brought to us by the same team behind Custom Notes—a popular VR mod that allows players to compose original Beat Saber tracks—this custom map loader allows Gorilla Tag players on both PCVR and Oculus Quest headsets access to over a dozen custom multiplayer environments ranging from New York City to the International Space Station.
The Gorilla Tag modding community just released a custom map loader with dozens of free maps from virtualreality
In a trailer posted to Reddit, we catch a glimpse at the following original maps:
  • New York City
  • ISS (International Space Station)
  • Museum
  • Minecraft
  • Volcano
  • Whomp’s Fortress (Mario Bros.)
  • The Voyager
  • Lost Woods
  • Rainbow Road (Mario Kart)
As previously mentioned, the Monke Map Loader is available to both PCVR and Quest headset users 100% free-of-charge. Installing the mod will take a bit of effort, however; especially for Quest users.

For those running the game on SteamVR via a PCVR headset, it’s just a matter of using the Monke Mod Manager to download the Monke Map Loader. Just make sure the “Monkey Map Loader” box is ticked before installing the software. Adding new maps is as simple as dropping the files into the BepInEx/plugins/MonkeMapLoader/CustomMaps folder.
If you need additional assistance check out this PC modding guide.
Installing custom maps on the Oculus Quest is slightly more complicated. First, you’ll need to download and install QuestPatcher. The program should automatically detect your Gorilla Tag app, after which you’ll need to press the “Patch my app!” button. You can then select the “Browse for mods” button to install Monkey Map Loader, available for download here. Just be sure your headset is plugged into your PC before launching the app.
Once you’re in-game, follow the portals to different locations in both public and private rooms.

Additional maps can be installed by simply dragging and dropping the .gtmap file into the QuestPatcher. For more information visit monkemaphub.com/pages/help.
Gorilla Tag is available free to download on Oculus Quest via App Lab and SideQuest as well as SteamVR headsets.
Shout out to u/legoandmars and the rest of the team for the incredible work.
