Summary

It’s the Oculus Gaming Showcase today, giving Oculus Quest and Rift owners a taste of what’s to come for both headsets in 2021. As part of the event, Vertigo Games has released a brand new trailer for its highly anticipated co-op shooter After the Fall.
Back in March the studio released a cinematic trailer showcasing the characters and the overall feel of After the Fall. Now it’s time to see the VR title in action, with a trailer which looks like its been entirely shot in-game. As you’d expect from an action-horror with mutant zombies – called Snowbreed – there are plenty of dark, chilling moments where players are suddenly swarmed from all sides as they try to survive the frozen hellscape.
The video not only offers a glimpse at the action but also some of the various creatures players will meet. As previously reported some of the Snowbreed can clamber on walls and ceilings but there are also some heavy-duty opponents to face. Tank-like monsters with armour and helmets, weird mutations which no longer look humanoid and one dude with a giant arm you don’t want to be caught by.
Originally announced in 2019 for a 2020 launch, Vertigo Games pushed the release back due to adapting to a remote working set up. While After the Fall will offer a single-player campaign, as you can see from the footage to get the most fun out of it you’ll want a few mates, with four players supported. That way you’ll be able to help each other out, throwing over a handy grenade or other useful items where need.
The storyline is set in a post-apocalyptic LA where climate change has ravaged the planet. Through the winter wasteland, players will have to scavenge for weapons and resources, using them to craft new items or make upgrades, building a hand-mounted multi rocket launcher for example.
Vertigo Games has stencilled in a Summer 2021 launch for After the Fall, support Oculus Rift (Oculus Quest via Link), PC VR headsets on Steam and PlayStation VR. Check out the new trailer below and for further updates on After the Fall, keep reading VRFocus.
