Summary

The summer of VR continues with two big announcements from Resolution Games.
If you are a big fan of Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs—and why wouldn’t you be—then this is just the kind of news your looking for. Thanks to a new kick-ass update, you now have the power to build and share your own custom levels and challenge other players around the globe.

Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs Level Builder

Much like the original mobile app version, Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs has you venturing off to the Isle of Pigs in order to face off against Doctor Frankenswine and his pesky green pig minions. Using a slingshot, you launch a variety of specialized birds across the map in the hopes of taking down intricate structures built by your pork-based foes. Now, you too have the power to create your own complex towers as well as try others built by fellow VR bird-slingers.
Creating levels is extremely easy. You’ll have access to all of the items and materials used as part of the pre-designed levels, such as wood, ice, and rock blocks, TNT, and a handful of different pigs and pig bosses to position throughout out your dubious puzzle.
Once you’ve created your level, you can then upload it online to share with friends and strangers on social media. Fans of your work can even “favorite” your level and save it to play again in the future. Players are asked to leave feedback on each custom level in the form of like or dislike. If you get enough likes, your level will show up in “Quick Play” when other players are searching for new levels to play.
In an official press release, Tommy Palm, CEO of Resolution Games said, “Even from the beginning stages of developing our level builder tool, the goal has always been to empower the community to create their very own levels, however they want,”
“There’s an amazing sense of accomplishment when creating something within a game – especially in VR. Now, not only can players get this level of satisfaction, but they can take it a step further to share their work with the community to get the recognition deserved.”
If you already own Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs, the update will show up automatically for free through the Oculus Rift Store, Oculus Quest Store, Steam and Viveport, with the update coming to the PlayStation Store soon.

Wonderglade

The super family-friendly VR carnival game is finally coming to the Oculus Quest; perfect timing for families looking for entertainment while under lockdown as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
A goofy VR carnival experience centered around an eclectic selection of colorful mini-games, Wonderglade launched back in 2016 for the Google Daydream headset, transporting players to a virtual festival-ground where they could particicpate in six different activities, including “Tiny Tee Golf,” “Tinder Town” (not that Tinder), Magic Mayhem, and others.
“The wireless aspect of the Quest lends itself so well to the game’s pass-and-play mode, where several people can compete against each other’s high scores, looking for a fun and whimsical adventure,” said Gustav Stenmark, producer at Resolution Games.
Gustav also talks about how Wonderglade fills the gap for a particular game styles that isn’t highly represented on the Quest. With so many of the newer VR games leaning more towards a more mature audience (Pistol Whip, Half-Life: Alyx, and Phantom: Covert Ops), or focusing on VR exercise (Supernatural and Audio Trip), having a VR experience designed specifically for light, family-focused entertainment, Wonderglade represents a refreshing change of pace.
Jumping into Wonderglade is perfect for kids and even adults. The scenery reminds me of something from the world of Willy Wonka. The games are simple enough for kids to understand, offering them small games that—while challenging—don’t leave them in a puddle of tears screaming “it’s tooooo hard!” That’s not to say older players won’t enjoy this experience as well. Don’t let the colorful environments fool you, even adults will get a laugh or two out of these ridiculous mini-games.
Wonderglade will be available for download on the Oculus Quest Store starting July 9th. You can learn more about Wonderglade and Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs on the Resolution Games website.
