VRWorkout

A new Oculus Quest release specifically built around working out recently came out and it won’t cost you a dime. Called VRWorkout, it’s available for free on the SideQuest store rather than Steam or the official Oculus Store. It supports hand tracking and will have players doing a number of exercises including jumping, squatting, push-ups, side planks, crunches, and burpees in order to progress.

The game itself is a rhythm title as it has players attempting to hit hand cues to the beat of songs. You’ll want to play with open palms rather than closed fists in order to improve the tracking VRWorkout offers. There are also head cues that the player can touch (not headbutt) and running in place will allow players to receive point multipliers. Players can even switch out an exercise they don’t like and select specific ones.

Despite being free, VRWorkout is a pretty full-featured release and is definitely worth checking out for those looking for a new Quest workout title (also check out our recommendations for new Quest owners). It has three difficulty levels and is able to automatically detect the player’s height. It also has audio instructions that’ll tell the player when to switch positions. There’s also freeplay mode without music if you want to play your own songs, you’ll just have to set the beat by hitting a drum cue.

There is one disclaimer to note, though. VRWorkout doesn’t check your surroundings for potential collisions so you’ll have to stay wary of where you are. It’s best played in an open room with a lot of space or outside. The developer warns players to “always use common sense when performing the movements inside the game. If you feel that some exercises are too dangerous do not perform them.”

VRWorkout has been quite popular on SideQuest. It has over 7,000 downloads and has received positive reviews, currently averaging a 4.7 out of 5 from users.
