Hotel R'n'R rockstars

During our last VR Game Roundup, there were a number of intriguing titles including the virtual reality version of Spaceteam and a game that let you play out your food fighting fantasy. This week doesn’t offer many available titles but makes up for it in quality. What’s available includes an in-depth putting simulator, a game that lets you wreck hotel rooms like a rockstar, and more!

Pro Putt by Topgolf

Kicking off our VR Game Roundup is Pro Putt by Topgolf. This putting simulator uses real golfing data to provide an in-depth simulation despite its cartoon aesthetic. It’s also releasing at the perfect time as it’s a way to hit the golf course if you’re currently unable to do so.

Fitness Potential

This won’t be as active as regular golf. After all, you won’t be sweating as much as you’re not outside in the hot sun (although that is possible to do thanks to the Quest’s standalone nature) and it focuses on putting rather than large swinging motions. That being said, the game keeps players active and your arms busy. It won’t be a workout favorite but it can help prepare you for future golf trips.

Yoren

Available now in an Early Access state, Yoren says it’s a “realistic VR magic game,” although I’m not sure casting spells can be all that realistic. Jokes aside, this looks to be a very ambitious title where players cast spells by drawing rune gestures and can explore an open world environment to battle bosses and find ingredients for crafting. In its current state, it’s more of an interactive sandbox than finished title.

Fitness Potential

This should keep your arms pretty active as you have to make motions in the air to cast spells at enemies. It won’t be as active as a rhythm title, though, so it’s better to use as a warm-up or with weights as a low impact exercise.

Hotel R’n’R

Finishing up this week’s VR Game Roundup is Hotel R’N’R, a game that has players wrecking hotel rooms as if they were a rockstar. After selling your soul to the devil in the game, players go on a hotel rampage destroying rooms and lobbies. There are over 36 different weapons to use to make a dent and increase the amount you’ll have to pay in damages.

Fitness Potential

You’ll stay quite active in this room scale title. Swinging objects to smash rooms will burn plenty of calories and there’s a good amount of variety to keep things fresh. The solo mode has six hotel suites with unique features in each one, and there are leaderboards to test your skills. There are also party modes to play with others in your house, so it has a lot of replay value for aspiring rockstars.
