Summary

Introduction

As part of the course of development in Virtual Reality, this story is about how to convey information to the user in a pleasant way and using the virtual environment. In this project I tried to use more interactions with videos and make a display in a museum.
The challenge was to find the right theme, scenery and setting. Learn how to intelligently use resources and improvise without having an available art design.

Result

After iteration stages in development, I reached a stable version with all the information I wanted to pass to the player. Although it was a small game, it proved very challenging. Sometimes the less the more challenging game it can be, because something very simple would be annoying and something very complex would escape the scope.

Process Section

Initial Concept

Night at the Museum is a VR experience that seeks to put the player in a museum at night for him to see exhibits on the benefits that the RV is bringing to help mankind.

Persona

Name: Lara
Age: 24
Occupation:
Level of experience in VR: Minimum
Phrase: “I want to know more about the world and learn from it”
Lara is a young dreamer who believes that the world has many possibilities and that people like to help each other, but are afraid to do so. Everyone has skills, they just lack the tool.

Sketches

The following sketches I made to arrive at a UI and concept of the museum.

User testing

Tests were done with people with little VR experience. This resulted in some difficulties at the beginning to understand what was to be done or how to get around in the museum. But as soon as they learned, the experience flowed as expected. I had some problems with videos that were not playing, broken audio and blurry images, but everything was resolved thanks to the comments made. I asked questions to pick up what the players thought and used it to improve the application.

UI Testing

As a previous project, I have not had many problems related to UI. The testers did not complain about the quality of the text, but some of the comments were about the amount of text. I removed a lot of content to wipe the application.

Experience and Mood

As a result the museum has become a simple and enjoyable VR experience, as I originally planned. I asked questions about how people felt and they liked the lighting and the scenery, how it was organized, and how it felt like a museum. I had some criticism about the narration (myself that I realized), I tried to improve as much as I could. Regarding the player’s movement, I did not receive any positive or negative comments, so I kept the way initially planned.

Detailed analysis of the final project

A few remarks I have to make here: Designing, designing, and gameplay have been the easiest parts for me. However searching for the content that would go popular the museum and to combine everything was a very arduous task. Finding the right theme, the correct text, elaborating and performing the narration was a challenge and I really liked the final result.

Conclusion

Another finished project, I feel proud and accomplished. Each project, each design, when the final result is completed is very satisfactory. And when it involves researching a topic that we have a greater interest in, the task becomes a diversion, in addition to learning more and more.
