I thought of sharing some the ideas on Augmented Reality (AR) this time. Even according to Goldman Sachs, by 2025, AR/VR will be an $80 billion industry. The growth of Augmented Reality (AR) applications in recent years can be attributed to solutions that allow consumers to visualize products and imagine what it might feel like to own the product or experience the service before actually purchasing it. As Augmented Reality technology becomes more advanced closer to the reality, the cost-saving and business applications expands. This will draw more and more businesses to draw to this technology and use it to increase their sales and market share.
Another buzzword that comes with AR is VR (Virtual Reality). Unlike VR, AR has a more immediate application because it requires no equipment beyond a smartphone. It also allows users to remain in the familiar landscape of their own reality. Augmented reality allows for virtually rendered objects and images to be viewed in the real world using a smartphone, tablet or AR glasses.

Recent technological advancements in virtual reality have begun the transition of not only entertainment (film & video games) industry but many other industries to three dimensions, and soon AR will begin influencing every other way we interact with computers.
The key takeaway for understanding the shift towards AR is that their collective push towards enabling people to engage more naturally with computers. With AR revolutionizing the user experience aspect with the computers there is a massive potential of changing many other industries.
Gaming and Entertainment Industry

When it comes to gaming AR has already come in to play. Pokémon Go is a 2016 augmented reality (AR) mobile game developed and published by Niantic for iOS and Android devices. It uses the mobile device GPS to locate, capture, battle, and train virtual creatures, called Pokémon, which appear as if they are in the player’s real-world location.
Here are some stats about Pokémon Go that might surprise you.
The game has become the fastest game to top the App Store and Google Play, beating Clash Royale, and it became the most downloaded app on the App Store of any app in their first week.
Now there are many other games that uses augmented reality which always fascinate the users. Not in the gaming industry most of the major companies in entertainment industry are already investing in AR.
There are experiments going on in creating augmented reality short films using ARKit, Apple’s augmented reality development kit.
Education

This another field which has huge potential of using AR in near future. If you really think about it, most of the diagrams or other images in the text books or any other texts will not be much detailed. Specially when it comes to a area like Biology, having augmented reality enabled text books will be a great experience for the users ( Both teachers and students ). Since there are so complex diagrams which are 3D, using AR would be a perfect solution for it.
AR also can be used embed videos in to textbooks which will be a huge advantage when it comes to the learning process of the student. Since it has some sort of an interactiveness it will help them to remember things easily as well as it won’t be boring as conventional reading of a textbook.
While doing homework, students may scan certain elements of a book and receive useful tips from teachers. This way communication between teacher and student will be more convenient and easy.
Generation Alpha use technology, smartphones, tablets, and computers naturally. Implementing this kind of AR enabled education system will be lot easier in this context.
Engineering

When it comes to engineering, AR can be used in almost every stage of the designing and manufacturing, right from the concept phase to the manufacturing phase. Augmented reality in engineering is being widely used by designers across the globe, as assembly examples, quality control information, and the process steps can be superimposed over the actual work environment. If we take mechanical engine that someone is trying to build, AR can be used to help them to show where and when it should be assembled with more details.
Besides, it also provides detailed information on the maintenance procedures by directly superimposing the overlay on the part or the entire machine.
When it comes to designing structures using AR will come in handy as we can get a more closer look at the 3D model with all the relevant details with just using your mobile phone or tablet.
Marketing and Advertising

Marketing and Advertising are two of the most fields which you can thrive using augmented reality. AR can be used in marketing a design or a product by showcasing different specifications, configurations, and explaining how the product will operate in the client’s settings.
Further we can use AR to make the target group in a market to watch a video without spending chunks of money to the television advertisements. It will make the target group more aware of the product and it will give that edge in current days increased competition in the domain. AR will allow you to use multimedia advertisements to market our products even through printed material.
There are already few companies that are invented in AR magazines which contains images and diagrams which will come to life once you see it through your camera using your smartphone.
Conclusion
Although I didn’t explain in detail there are many more industries that has huge potential of using AR in order to maximize their profits and get i front of their competitors in their relevant domains. Industries like transportation, Medical, food and many more can be vastly influenced by introducing AR to them. Already social media giants like Facebook and Snapchat are using AR to optimize the user experience.
Somehow, unknowingly we have come to an age where augmented reality can really disrupt the current status of the many fields.
