THE BIG STORY
HTC announced that the VIVE Sync, a remote collaboration platform announced in late 2018, is now in free Beta. Excellent timing on HTC’s front considering we are going through a pandemic… perhaps it is a similar situation to Facebook, who accelerated the development of certain products to meet new demand. In any case, we now have a brand-new collaboration platform.
It’s been a while since we heard about the VIVE Sync, but with the pressures of a post-COVID world, the release is timely. HTC presents a new dimension as a VR rival to Zoom and Facebook; people can access the system without a VR headset as well.
HTC invited Virtual Perceptions to try it out. It’s not every day that I interview someone in virtual reality. Still, the company kindly invited me to speak to Graham Wheeler, General Manager EMEA at the company, to test it.
VIVE Sync offers a compelling package. AltspaceVR and ENGAGE both provide similar services, with community options built into both platforms. HTC’s version offers something different; one dedicated for companies working remotely across the world, with tools that service businesses rather than hobbies.
